Ambers
The amber family has recently expanded! Indeed, it historically referred to perfumes inspired by ambergris, that whale secretion with such sensual and animalic notes! Grrr! These perfumes do not necessarily contain natural ambergris; they can instead use a base that reproduces its scent (vanilla, balms, animalic notes). Today, perfumes that were once called "oriental" (except we're not allowed to say that anymore, shhh!) are also included. This category referred to perfumes evoking the Orient, meaning they contained the magical trio of vanilla, patchouli, and finally spices (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, etc.). Today's amber perfumes are true concentrations of sensuality, simultaneously enveloping, intimate, and charismatic. Whether woody, spicy, or resinous, they seduce discreetly, leaving an unforgettable trail. In both cases, amber notes are always deliciously vanilla-like, without becoming gourmand.
